A new gem is shimmering over Cairo's colorful nights. It is soothing, calming and relaxing, boasting vibrant electro lounge vibes, new-age Lebanese cuisine and stunning cocktail creations. It is Jayda: one of the rising-star nightspots of Cairo, attracting some high-class Egyptians and foreigners.
The venue is located on the third floor of the highly reputable five-star hotel Conrad in Down Town. It is a huge outdoor terrace, featuring big jade lamps, lush-greenery including palm trees, climbing plants and bottle-brush plants and amazing lightning.
Cleverly catering to the variety of clients visiting the place, the venue is divided into four sections: the first is for all those who like spending time lounging on big cushions, smoking the extensively unusual range of shishas (including cappuccino, coconut and rose) while watching sporting events on wide-screen TVs. The second is a bar offering some mouth-watering alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails including the highly recommended Golden Treasure (exotic smooth blend of fresh pineapple and strawberry, with fresh mango and guava juices) or the Green Fizz (basil leaves with celery sticks and lemon juice). The third section is dedicated to party animals, featuring a small stage for the DJ (mixing vocal trans, house music, club trans and R&B from 9pm to 3am), long stools and tiny tables along with low sofas and equally low wooden tables. And, finally, the amazing Lebanese restaurant, combining authentic Lebanese dishes and excellent wine collection with romantic atmosphere suitable for both: couples and groups of people.
Choose a table facing the peaceful Nile (which, by the way, makes a striking combination with the ever-busy roads of Cairo) and take your time going through the rich variety of palatable dishes. If you are lost in the assortment, ask the attentive staff to help you make the right choices. Kick off with the crispy Lebanese bread, but make sure you leave room for other delicious items, saturating the menu. Jayda's salads, cold and hot mezzahs are fabulous, among which recommended are: Vegetarian Stuffed Vine Leaves (served with yoghurt mint dip); Mohamara (a spicy blend, featuring a delicious combination of crushed walnuts mixed with red chili, pine nuts, cumin and pomegranate molasses); the Chilled Cucumber Soup with Prawns, or the all-favorite Hummus Beiruty or the tender Samboussek bel Gebna. The selection of the main dishes is also tantalizing: try out the Djej Mashwy (grilled boneless half chicken, marinated with lemon and garlic) or Mashawi el Bahr (selection of grilled shrimps, squid and sea bass). The presentation is amazing whereas all the dishes are served with mashed potatoes, grilled onions and vegetables.
For the dessert, don't miss out Sharkeyat (selection of Oriental pastries) and Osmalleyah (angel hair with cream and rosewater). Only then, when the dining is put in the "done" folder, head to the "party zone" and dance the night away with Jayda's merry crowds.
Minimum charge applies: LE75 on weekdays and LE100 on Thursdays and Fridays.
