The history of Lebanon seems to revolve around the country’s traditional tree – the symbol of their pride, the emblem of their flag, the element in their nature - the cedar. And now, it is also the name of Cairo’s most authentic Lebanese restaurant, Cedars, located in always-busy Tivoli Dome in Heliopolis.
Impressive is the entrance to this truly magnificent venue, boasting a striking combination of soothing earthy colors; wooden floors, stone walls with symbolic engravings and an enormous chandelier, successfully creating an atmosphere of a palace rather than a restaurant.
As far as the interior design is concerned, the place is divided into two areas: the indoors, offering incomparable antique design seen in its remarkable furniture (a smart blend of purple and silver); and the outdoor area with its engraved stone tables and the fascinating ceiling, letting you enjoy the star-lit sky through a masterfully decorated wooden pergola. The coziness of the place is further emphasized through the selection of music, smartly combining western hits with nostalgic Arabic tunes. The staff also makes you feel at home with their welcoming hospitality, friendliness and extensive knowledge of the menu.
The range of dishes offered is diverse, depicting various culinary traditions of Lebanon from hot and cold appetizers such as Manaa'eesh (with cheese and beef), Safayeh (beef stuffed pastry), Hummus, Kobeba, Sambusak (with your choice of spinach, cheese or beef) and Chicken Liver, to the very popular Lebanese salads, among which are Toboula and Fatoush. For the main, extremely recommended are the Mixed Grill and Lebanese-flavored Spicy Fish (which can also be moderately spiced, according to your preferences).
Cocktail-lovers can also find something to their taste, including Classic or Tropical cocktails fusing the freshest fruits in an extravaganza of taste and color. However, satisfying all your hunger and thirst, please remember to leave room for desserts, as the temptation will not let you leave without indulging in one of the place’s sinfully delicious offerings. Cedars’ mouthwatering "Konafa Nabolseya" (featuring Aakawy Cheese as a base, topped with Lebanese konafa and absorbed in a sugary syrup) is a definite attraction, making clients to visit this place over and over again.
All the dishes are equally delicious, generously served and masterfully decorated, and, apparently, the secret of Cedars’ success lies in its ingredients: brought directly from Lebanon, the dishes are 100% authentic, reflecting the atmosphere of this unique culture to the fullest. The staff – that is quick and efficient – is trained by a Lebanese chef, which makes the place even more appealing.
Now, when all was said, the only thing you have to do is to visit this gorgeous restaurant to see, feel and taste the difference.
Band every Friday from 9pm till 12am.
