The fragrance of pesto has infiltrated Cairo by way of an intriguing restaurant called Bella. Walk through the double glass doors and you realize that the most enjoyable and impressive thing about Bella is its sheer Italianness, from the bevy of snappily dressed, well-trained waiters who discreetly hover in the background anticipating your every need, to the Italian business clientele who wolf down their pasta as if sitting in their mother's kitchens.
Exploring Imagination & Taste
Upon visiting Bella, there was an almost magical alchemy, combining art and culinary skill in ways that have recently gone a little out of fashion. Here at Four Seasons, gastronomy is not only about comfort food: the chef's dishes are brilliantly presented which is no triumph of mere style over substance.
"The Italian culture is steeped in tradition and family" the Executive Chef of Bella smiles fondly. "Both are synonymous with one another in Italy and that combination has a heavy influence on every aspect of Bella" he explains. A step inside the restaurant reveals an uncontrived space with an easy grace. From the cuisines complemented by an atmosphere of new world charm to the generous view of the Nile, very much in keeping with today's definition of being trendy, Bella is all about impeccable service and cuisine.
Dine & Design
Dominating the entry zone is a grand composition of gleaming wood tables, glass panels, intricately patterned marble floors, bold chandeliers, and flower arrangements that accent the neutral-colored furniture ( all which seemingly interject an element of rough chic in juxtaposition to the rest of the design.
The main dining room, governed along one elevation by an antipasti buffet counter, is articulated with an impressively high ceiling which is further accentuated with long suspended lighting fixtures. Whether dazzling the eye with bold colors and eclectic furnishings or soothing the soul with a refined, comfortable atmosphere, Bella's design is thought-provoking, and a definite conversation starter.
Amidst all this, Zantedeschi brings with him his Italian culture to prepare fresh and authentic Italian specialties "straight from his heart" he charmingly explains, with a passion only known and perfected in the kitchens of Italy.
Al Dente. Al Penne. Amore.
The menu focuses on seafood with a faithful Italian flair although a dedicated team of chefs have also prepared featured recipes such as Grilled Chicken with Dijon mustard, truffle oil potato purée; Braised Veal Ossobuco with Milanese Saffron Risotto; as well as Oven-baked Lamb Rack with parsley panure, and vegetable caponata; that have been honed to perfection for decades. The critically acclaimed styles of creating perfectly balanced dishes despite marrying various flavors are offered in the different sections of the menu. Specialty oils, pastas, spices, tomatoes and other ingredients are imported from Italy, and all breads are baked on premises in wood-fired ovens and are definitely among the very best in town.
