In the old greek documents, edfu was known as “apollopolis magna” due to Greeks mentioned horus with their god Apollo. The city of edfu is located north of aswan.

 

The most important in the city of edfu is(the temple of horus).the temple is dates back to the second intermediate period.
It consists of traditional elements of Egyptian temples. The temple has an entrance, a court and chapel.
The temple considerd the highest surviving temples in Egypt, decorated with battle scenes.
On the both sides of the entrances to his hall is standing a statue of horus of behdet, in the shape of a falcon.
The temple has 2 vestibules the first one called “the hall of the offerings” decorated with various scenes with different deities.
On the outer wall of the temples, there are scenes of battles.
