The complex contains a group of temples like : the great temple of amon ra, the temple of khonso, the temple of god Osiris. it is the largest  temple. In Arabic the name of el-karnak was derived from karnak means fortified village due to the arabs when entered this site found many temples.
On the entrance of the temple there is a ram-headed avenue of sphinxes. during the time of king nektanebo(30th dynasty) on each side there is 20 rams in the first pylon. This pylon leads to the open court which contains rows of bud papyrus columns.
There is a part known as “the kiosk of taharqa”who ruled during the 25th dynasty.
During the 18th dynasty the 2nd pylon was built by horemheb now is damaged.but completed again by ramses I ”the founder of the 19th dynasty”.
When we pass through the 2nd pylon, we enter the great hypostyle hall. The hypostyle hall leads to the 3rd pylon. in hypostyle hall there is a scenes representing kind seti I, making offering and worshipping the triad of thebes.
When crossing the 3rd pylon we find the court of thutmosis I, thutmosis erected 2 oblisks and only one obelisk were survived.
We reach the 4th pylon from the court of thutmosis  when Hatshepsut ascended to the throne she built 2 obliesks in that colonnade.
Also the 5th pylon built by thutmosis I and on two both sides he built two rooms.
Thutmosis III were built the 6th pylon, the original sanctuary was built by thutmosis III,but his brother Alexander the great rebuilt it.
The sanctuary dates back to the middle kingdom and made out of granite.
There is another hall known as “akh-mnw” “the festival hall of thutmosis III is known by botanical room decorated by scenes of plants.
We enter a courtyuard which is infront of the 7th pylon.
In 1902, the French Egyptologist discovered a group of statues were hiddenin the ground of this court known by “the court of the cashet.
You will see the 2 statues of ramses after we crossing the 2nd pylon.
There is also the 8th pylon which is built by Hatshepsut.
The façade of the pylon represents Hatshepsut and religious scenes.
Horemheb was built the 9th pylon and were badly damaged .in this pylon there is a large number of bricks were found inside using as filling.
Also horemhb built the 10th pylon and damaged .in this pylon there is an avenue of sphinxes built by horemhb.
When we leave the temple there is a sacred lake dates back to the thutmosis III .near the sacred lake there is a scarab which is the biggest scarab dating back to amenhotepIII .
The ancient Egypt called the scarab “khebery”, it is the symbol of the sun god means to create.
