  El-ashmunin open air museum

El-ashmunin is situated on on west bank of the nile,about 8km north of mallawi and 7km east of tuna-el-gebal.
There is a town near modern el-ashmunin, known as “khmunw” that means in ancient Egyptian language means ”town of eight” named after ogdoad.
In the old kingdom the town was a cult centre of thot “god of wisdom”.
There were also eight primeval deities{four-frog gods and four snake-goddeses} associated with the hermopolitan creation myth.
This old archaeological place which is turned now into open air museum. There are only two several baboon clossi which erected in this site during the region of amenhotep III .
